Vodafone offers 28GB data and free calls for Rs 346, offer only until ;New Delhi, November 15: To counter rival Reliance Jio’s disruptive plans, rival telecom operator Vodafone has launched two new plans for its prepaid users.

Vodafone has announced a Rs 458 and a Rs 509 plan offering select customers with 1GB of 4G/3G data every day, 100 SMS per day, unlimited local and STD calls, as well as free outgoing roaming calls. These plans directly compete with similarly priced tariff plans from Mukesh Ambani-led Jio. The Rs 458 plan is valid for 70 days, the Rs 509 plan comes with a validity of 84 days.

  1. Vodafone Launches Rs 458, Rs 509 Plans to Counter Jio’s tariff Plans

  2. Rs 509 comes with a validity of 70-day

  3. Rs 458 plan has a validity of 84 days

It has to be noted that while the Vodafone plan has “unlimited” calling, that privilege comes with a limit of 250 minutes daily, and 1,000 minutes in a week. This means if you exceed four hours of calls daily, you will be charged for it. Similarly, total calling exceeding 16 hours in a week will also be chargeable. This cap applies to both the plans. Prepaid users can check the MyVodafone app or call the customer care to check if these offers are available to them.

The Rs 509 Plan:

Vodafone’s new Rs 509 Plan offers customers with 1GB data per day, free-roaming outgoing calls, and 100 SMSes per day along with bundled local and STD calls for 84 days. But it has to be noted that users can make up to 250 minutes of calls per day and 1,000 minutes per week without charge. This plan by Vodafone is a direct competition with the Rs. 459 Jio plan.

The Rs 458 Plan:

Under the Rs 458 plan, Vodafone is offering customers with 1GB data per day, 100 SMSes, free roaming calls, and bundled calls. The daily and weekly FUPs on calls apply with this plan is the same as that of the Rs. 509 plan. Jio’s plan offering similar benefits is priced at Rs. 399. The Rs 458 plan comes with a validity of 70 days.

Earlier this week, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular Limited separately agreed to sell their respective standalone tower businesses in India to ATC Telecom Infrastructure Private Limited for an aggregate enterprise value of Rs. 78.5 billion. Reports state that the standalone tower businesses of Vodafone and Idea are pan-Indian passive telecommunication infrastructure businesses, comprising a combined portfolio of approximately 20,000 towers with a combined tenancy ratio of 1.65 times as at June 30, 2017.
